After is an independent app. If you have questions about this policy, contact us.

What After Does

After is a single-purpose mobile app. You type the name of a show or film you just finished, and it returns one recommendation matched to the emotional vibe. That's the whole product.


1. What Information Do We Collect?

What you type

When you use After, you type the name of something you just watched. This input is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate your recommendation. It is not stored on our servers after processing.

Information stored on your device

The following is stored locally on your device only — it never leaves your device:

Push notifications

If you grant permission, After may send you one notification per week (Friday evenings) to check in on what you finished. Your notification token is stored on Apple's push notification servers (APNs) — not on our servers. We do not sell or share it.

Payment information

If you subscribe to After, your payment is processed by RevenueCat. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card details. You can review RevenueCat's privacy practices at revenuecat.com/privacy.

2. How Do We Use Your Information?

The title you type is used solely to generate your recommendation via OpenAI. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.

Payment data processed by RevenueCat is used solely to manage your subscription.

Push notification permissions are used solely to send you the single weekly Friday notification described above.

4. Do We Share Your Information?

OpenAI

The title you type is processed by OpenAI to generate your recommendation. OpenAI processes this data in accordance with their own privacy policy. See openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.

RevenueCat

If you subscribe, your payment and subscription data is handled by RevenueCat. See revenuecat.com/privacy.

Apple / Google

Push notification delivery is handled by Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) depending on your device.

Business transfers

If After is ever acquired or merged with another company, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you if this occurs.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers — ever.


5. Artificial Intelligence

After uses OpenAI's API to generate recommendations. When you type a title, that input is sent to OpenAI and processed to produce your result. This is the core function of the app.

Your inputs are processed under OpenAI's terms and privacy policy. We do not use your inputs to train our own models.

Important: Do not enter sensitive personal, medical, financial, or legal information when using After. The app is designed for show and film titles only, and inputs sent to our AI provider are not protected by any form of professional privilege.


6. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

On your device: Your watch history, saved recommendations, and preferences remain on your device until you delete the app or clear its data.

Server-side: We do not retain your search inputs after your recommendation is returned. RevenueCat retains subscription records as required by their terms and applicable law.


7. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?

Your personal data is minimal by design. The most sensitive data After handles — your subscription payment — is managed entirely by RevenueCat and never touches our servers.

Data stored on your device is protected by your device's own security (passcode, biometrics, encryption). We recommend keeping your device updated and secured.

While we take reasonable precautions, no system is entirely immune to risk. We cannot guarantee absolute security of any data transmitted through third-party services such as OpenAI or RevenueCat.


8. Your Privacy Rights

All users

You can delete all of After's locally stored data at any time by clearing the app's data in your device settings, or by uninstalling the app.

EU / UK (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal information; to restrict or object to processing; and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us via our contact page or submit a data subject access request.

If you believe we are processing your data unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority:

Canada (PIPEDA)

You have the right to access and correct your personal information and to withdraw consent at any time. Contact us with any questions.

US residents

Depending on your state, you may have rights to know, access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, and to opt out of any sale of your data. We do not sell personal information. To submit a request, visit our contact page or use our data subject access request form.

Australia / New Zealand

We process your information in accordance with Australia's Privacy Act 1988 and New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020. Contact us with any concerns.


9. Tracking

After does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers (such as Apple's IDFA), run third-party analytics tools, or share your data with data brokers.

In line with Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, After will never request permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites.


10. Children

After is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.


11. Updates to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app.
